During the month of March, our K19, K18, and K17 (twos, threes, and fours) classes planted seeds. Future fruits, herbs, and vegetables were carefully buried in potting soil and placed on windowsills and shelves. Teacher Kristen’s science studio became gardening headquarters as the different classes visited to pick out their seeds and carefully place them in small containers. With some time and some TLC, they have sprouted and grown. Beans and peas have shown the most dramatic growth, but others are not far behind. Once our seedlings are big enough not to be mistaken for weeds, they will travel to our plot in the community garden to continue growing, and hopefully produce some tasty herbs and produce during the summer!
