My Role at Discovery Zone
I am the Assistant Director and have been working at Discovery Zone since September 2016.
My Background & Family
My name is Carly and I have the honor and privilege of spending time with your child while they are here at Discovery Zone. I have been at Discovery Zone since October 2016 and I have a background in early childhood development and elementary education. I went to high school here in McMinnville and after high school attended Chemeketa Community College. After earning my AA there, I transferred to Linfield where I received my BA in early childhood development and elementary education. I then worked at McMinnville High school for five years before taking a break to start a family. I married my high school sweetheart, Thomas, and we are the very proud parents to a three year old little girl named Jordan, who is also here at Discovery Zone. I believe that the Lord is in everything. He is in the beauty of a crisp fall morning, the sight of a deer running across a field and the joy of a child. The joy and excitement that each child brings to Discovery Zone is truly a sign that He is good. It’s my faith and love of children that makes Discovery Zone such a great fit. I get to spend time with some truly amazing kids, coworkers and families.
Why I Work With Kids
My favorite thing about working with kids is seeing them grow and learn. I love being able to set out provocations and seeing what each child does with it; how they figure out their own challenges and overcome each struggle. Getting to work with each child and see each unique characteristic that God gifted them is amazing; I love watching the way they interact with each other and help each other out. It’s a blessing to be able to work with your children and help them grow and find their God given talents!
